Christmas 2019
Boston on
Rosie: Rosie is the cutest baby in the whole entire world. But. She gets into a lot of trouble. Like today, she got Macy’s dentures [retainer] in the toilet and was flinging water all over the floor. She always grabs the cereal box by the bottom and dumps the cereal all over the floor sometimes. And whenever she eats soup or cereal and she’s done with it she dumps it on the table and wipes it all over. Even though she’s pretty crazy she’s, no offense, still my favorite sister. No matter what, she’s always, well, she’s usually, nice. She feels comforted whenever she’s around me, pretty sure.
Luke: He’s probably the craziest one in the house. He can never sit still. Don’t know if that’s a disease or not. He’s turning into a tattle tale. He always tells on me no matter what I do, even if it’s something I already got permission to do or something he just doesn’t want me to do. When he’s with his friends he’s ultra crazy and it’s hard to contain him. He’s still pretty cute and innocentish. He still looks like a kid and is very childlike.
Macy: This year Macy’s been playing basketball, volleyball, getting annoyed with me, Cooper and Luke. She is very easily upset and she’s getting tall-ish.
Cooper: He’s a silly goose. He plays sports too much. He’s on a Bantam team and he’s pretty good. Whenever he does his hair there’re always little parts sticking up in the back. He’s a sports addict.
(Cooper, go out. We’re interviewing for the Christmas letter. Cooper: Ooohhohoho! I’m good at this!!)
Leslie: I’m excited that she’s going on a mission and that she was courageous enough to go to college with not the best situations, and that she can be smart enough to get into a school, and that she’s going on lots of dates, that she turned off the dating app because it’s raining men. She’s really smart.
Dad: I’m proud of him for starting his own business, cause at first when he started his own business I was kind of worried that his business would fail and he wouldn’t have a job, but we’re fine now because he makes enough money. He’s really fun and makes a lot of jokes. He coached me in flag football and baseball and our teams have tested his patience once or twice.
Jackie: I like her food because it’s better than some restaurants’ food, like Dad sometimes said, like when he goes to a restaurant and orders lasagna he’s always disappointed because it’s not Mom’s. She gets really into a book, and when I try to talk to her she can’t hear because she’s reading.
Rosie's Interview: What do you think about Leslie? “I don’t know.” What do you think about Boston? “Umm, he’s right there.” What do you think about Cooper? “He’s upstairs.” What do you think about Macy? “No.” What do you think about Lukey? “No”.
Macy on:
Rosie-- She is super cute. Sometimes she’ll play with dollies and it’s really cute because she acts like she’s the mom and carries her dolls around the house. She has the cutest hairstyles. I like when I’m getting her dressed in the morning and I always let her pick out her own clothes, or from a few options. She always wants the biggest flower for her bow when I do her hair. She always likes to sing songs, and she and Luke likke to make magic carpets on the floor and play on it. She hides nativity pieces in the Christmas tree. She also likes stacking our fake candles.
Luke-- He is enjoying first grade. Every morning I take him to his class or to my class and then he goes to his own. He really likes playing games. He’ll do pretty much anything I tell him if I’ll play a game with him. He likes to play the wii, and whenever I watch him he gets mad at me. He likes writing on the white board when Mom has something we need to write. He is always really hyper at nighttime. He is really funny and is fun to play with, and he’s a good helper.
Cooper-- He’s very athletic. He likes to always play basketball in the basement and it’s kind of annoying when I’m trying to go to sleep cause it’s like, thump, thump, thump, “Cooper go to sleep!” Recently he got a new game called Magic so we’ve been playing that a lot. He likes watching Studio C. It’s really funny. He and Luke play football and basketball a lot. I can be bored, and then if I say, “Cooper make me laugh”, he can stand there and make me laugh.
Boston-- He’s in 8th grade and is the Junior Technologist for my Dad’s company, even though that doesn’t really count for being in the company. He’s been playing darts recently. He likes to play video games and he gets up in the morning to go to the bus stop with Cooper. He loves Rosie, and he likes to play with her. He is good at making Mac n ‘cheese. Luke things that Boston does it s10x better than me, even though we make the same exact recipe. He’s at his friends’ house a lot. He likes having pizza movie parties with his friends. Last time we got five pizzas.
Leslie-- Leslie is in college. She goes to Utah State. She’s really smart. SHe is fun to talk to and when she tickles me it hurts but I still laugh. She’s fun to watch movies with because she has good comments about the movies. She’s five eleven, that’s pretty tall. She always gives me the stuff that she doesn’t want anymore or she outgrew. She gives me all the cherry flavored stuff because she doesn’t like it. Sometimes we just like to dance around the living room. It’s cute when I try to get Rosie to say she loves Leslie, but she won’t say it when Leslie is present. Leslie says that’s fine. THe most recent movie she introduced me to was Charade, and that was wonderful. I like doing her hair.
Mark-- Dad is super funny. He likes to tell dad jokes sometimes. He always plays games with me and Luke. He’s the boss of ice cream, so he always gets ice cream and lets us have ice cream, and I don’t even know what his favorite flavor is. He owns his own company and has lots of company merchandise, so I have a shirt, a beanie, a water bottle, and even a hand sanitizer. He is super great and also a tickle monster. Especially when Rosie does her adorable giggle. He is the father of six children, which is kind of a lot. He likes watching sports and playing sports. He is good at volleyball and a fast runner. He coaches the boys in baseball and he coaches me in basketball right now. He is good at flipping crepes. He had years of experience because he went on a mission to Paris. He can speak French, obviously.
Jackie-- She is a wonderful mom. She’s really good at cooking, and I’m not as picky as I used to be so I enjoy her cooking creations. She recently made this really good teriyaki chicken salad that I didn’t think I would like but I really liked it. She always knows what kind of medicine we need for different sickenesses and I wonder if she studied about that. She’s really smart. She always reminds us to say our prayers and read the scriptures so I always do. She can always make the baby happy, and when the baby is happy everybody is happy. She loves chocolate. She likes to try new things, especially new recipes.
Cooper on:
Rosie: Is cute. She has three modes. One of em, when she’s always cranky and fussy. Her second mode, she’s cute and quiet, and she’s shy sometimes. Her other mode, she’s really talkative and loud sometimes and likes playing with you. She catches on to what you say really fast, so don’t say anything dumb.
Luke: He loves playing games but he hates losing. I wouldn’t say he’s competitive, he just really doesn’t like to lose. He’s kind of annoying sometimes, but he’s a little brother, so… He always answers questions before they’re asked, which I think is really annoying sometimes, like if I walk up to him, he’ll say, “No, I”m not playing basketball with you.” He likes drawing. He’s smart. He figures things out fast. He likes showing off to all his friends. Whenever his friends are around he tries to be mean to me to look cool to his friends, which is weird.
Macy: She is really good at twisting the story. She’s good at gymnastics. She always, always always tries to negotiate me just looking at one of her tricks, like an aerial, and then she’ll play cards with you or reward, you, like just looking at that snake on the stick to get healed. She also has a few moods. She’s either, like, mean and trying to disclude you depending on how she feels about you, and sometimes she wants to have fun and makes it not awkward to apologize to her. She’s really sly because she drives me into conversations and then makes me regret my word choice. LIke, she’s baiting me on this grammar thing, like trying to get me to say the wrong word and then tease me about it. If I accidentally mispronounce a word she’ll correct me. When she’s in her mean and annoying mode she likes to get in our way instead of doing things in the living room. Like laying down in the middle of the floor when I want to play basketball. She’s good at wrapping presents. She likes to be the one to tell you the exciting news, like if Dad got me a new basketball.
Boston-- He drives almost every conversation to almost anything about his friends. He’s really tall now. In most of the pictures awhile ago we were like an inch apart and now he’s like seven inches taller than me. He weighs more than Leslie. He likes giving hugs and he likes giving spanks. He’s really good with little kids. He can wiggle his ears pretty good. He likes to turn anything in a competition, and I like to beat him in that competition. LIke we got into an argument about what way to part your hair, like, he parts his hair, left, I part my hair right, and we got into an argument about which way to part your hair. He’s Y’ I know the Rhino. Cause whenever anyone gives him instructions and he’s not listening, he’s like, “Y’ I Know”, and then he doesn’t do it.
Leslie-- She’s the peacemaker of the family, and Boston in that sense is glad she went away so he can fight all he wants. She’s good with instructions unlike Yiknow the Rhino. She gets really redfaced whenever Dad tells her that she did something wrong. She doesn’t like talking to me about her dates and stuff ‘cause she’s afraid that I’ll do something about it. She’s really smart because she was in Science Olympiad and won a bunch of medals. She always tries to convince Rosie to like her, cause almost every day she would ask Rosie if she loved her and Rosie would say, ummm no. Finally when Leslie went to college she came back to visit, and she had about giving up on Rosie, then Cooper asked Rosie if she loved Leslie and she said, “YES! Leslie’s my friend.” I”m not sure if Rosie knows she’s her sister.
Mark-- He’s doing good in his business career. His employees have a better office than him. He’s still bald this year. He coached us in football and baseball and he’s given my basketball team some tips. He always smells good. He likes to see his boys working.
Jackie-- She’s really nice. She always finds a way to turn the topic of the conversation into a song, like when we were talking about one of Macy’s basketball teammates, Mariah, she started singing a song about Mariah. She seems like she doesn’t wear the same outfit twice, even though she probably does. She likes complimenting her own food. It’s still good, I’m just saying, she’s like, “Wow, this food’s really good.”
Leslie on:
Boston: I feel like Boston got a lot more mature and has been better at noticing when people need help with stuff, like when I got my surgery he was good at checking on me. He’s done sports stuff.
Cooper-- He’s been practicing a lot of sports but it wasn’t paying off the day I was watching. He just says whatever is on his mind, not a lot of filter on him, which is entertaining.
Macy-- She’s really into cooking right now. She’s fun to talk to, and she’ll give me back rubs and play with my hair. She’s good at playing with Rosie, and good at one on one time with people.
Luke-- Luke is still a loudy, really loud and wiggly. He’s really good at making everyone smile, and is generally a pretty happy kid. He’s been the most concerned about me, praying for my ankle, worrying that I was getting disowned this year, stuff like that.
Rosie-- She’s a good cowgirl. She likes playing with woody and making him kiss all the dollies. I would say that she’s gonna be a good mom but she keeps throwing her dolls all over the floor. Also, she says she really likes kissing boys.
Dad-- He’s obsessed with getting things with his name on them. HIs business is going pretty well.
Jackie-- She was a trooper about sending her first kid off to college and didn’t even cry. She has been so enjoying all of her pretty new hair.
Luke on:
Cooper: Cooper lets me play Magic with him. He is sometimes fun. He goes to school. He got a new bed and a new room from Leslie. He took off his braces. He went on a cruise.
[How can you type without looking??? Can you teach me how to do that?] He loves the Seahawks.
Rosie: She is cute. SHe is a baby. She loves mommy and daddy. She likes boats. She’s learning to use the potty. SHe actually likes basketball if you ever noticed that. She loves Grandmas.
Mom: Mom makes dinner. She plays games. She changes Rosie’s diapers. Sometimes MOm plays games with me but not very often. Mostly Dad. Mom is 40. [actually 41]. She makes dessert sometimes.
Leslie:
[wait can I talk about myself? First I’m doing Leslie.]
She sometimes sits on Boston. She is at college right now. This week she’s gonna come over.
She sits on Cooper, too. Leslie is gonna go on her mission next year. Leslie is going to leave our house after Christmas. [Actually February.]
All about me: I like video games. I always play with Rosie. I do my jobs. I like BYU. I like football and baseball. I do not like basketball. I have friends. I play games with my grandmas. I have a bed that has drawers.
Boston: Sometimes he saves me if Cooper tackles me. Boston pays his tithing. Boston has a bunk bed. Boston played football and baseball. He bosses some people around. He likes fishing.
Macy: She is stinky. She is sometimes annoying. She is kinda funny. She sometimes plays games with me and Dad. She has weird friends. She does wallyball.
Daddy: He aaaaaalways plays games with me. He is super super funny. He makes hamburgers. He likes to tickle me. He coaches Boston and Cooper. And that might be all, folks!
